Freshwater Invertebrate Vocalisations

I’ve been doing some more hydrophone recording recently, and I often come across sounds of water bugs in bodies of water. I started looking for some information on the internet to help me identify them, but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much clear information on the internet for identifying water bugs by their vocalisations. I did find a couple of other interesting related resources though…

I found a study undertaken in Western Australia of the ambient sound field in some some freshwater wetlands in 2003, including a discussion of the invertebrate calls heard, but not identifying which particular invertebrates make which call. Here it is here:
