Audio Post Planning in Pro Tools

When undertaking audio post-production projects, or really any large audio production work, it is vital to get organised. This is especially so if working with others in a team, as opposed to working on your own. Creating spotting logs, cue sheets and visual maps are all great tools for sound design planning, and a lot of these sorts of things can be done from right within Pro Tools rather than using other software or pen and paper.

I have made a little video showing some of my own approaches to these things to share, in case it is useful or others have other ways of doing things that they might like to share. Here it is:

These are the main points:

00:00 – Intro
00:50 – Using Markers for selecting and navigating
03:45 – Using Clip Groups in a track as a Guide for planning
09:12 – Export Session Info as Text
13:20 – Using a track as a visual map for sound design

I hope that is interesting or useful to some people. Feel free to add a reply or comment, but keep in mind that I need to approve these so they might not appear straight away on the site.
