SB Feature Film Post Blog Post 4

I felt good about where I got to yesterday. As I slowly chip away at the jobs list and get more organised I start to stress a little less.

There were a few odd things with the edit or files provided which I confirmed what the story was with the Editor and Director yesterday. I wish I had confirmed one aspect about the end of the movie earlier, as I spent some time on Monday cleaning up some dialogue in what I thought must have been an epilogue part in the end credits, but turned out that it was just a scene that had been cut from the film but left in the timeline on exporting final files for post. It means I spent unnecessary time on a scene that is not even being used.

I must have left the studio around 11pm and the other guys were still chipping away at Foley. They seemed to have their workflow reasonably sorted and seemed to be having fun. With all the stuff that is going on at the studio at the moment, the place is looking a little messy, and the additional shoes and props lying around the place for Foley work don’t help on that front.

The plan for today and tomorrow is to:

  • Get stuck into organising my production sound with a first pass at a dialogue edit, organising the backgrounds I already have from production as I go.

The goal is to have something watchable by Monday so we can reconvene on Monday evening to see where we are up to with sound editorial.
