I mostly caught up with my work yesterday, although it was a long day in the end. It would have been after 11pm when we left the studio, and I was getting a bit vague towards the end.
I checked through all the main issue spots, and I believe everything to be workable at this stage. I did come across one spot where I didn’t think there would be a problem, but there is a bit of an issue. The shot was done while I was not on location during production. The Director and I had run off with one of the actors to get some VO recorded while the Assistant Director took over the shoot, and I left Production Sound to some assistants. Unfortunately there is a shot of an actor reacting to a line said off screen, and that shot is the only time that line seems to ever be said in any of the shots. Unfortunately it seems this wasn’t communicated to the sound team at the time, because we have no clean boom mic recording of the line, and the lav of it I have needs some serious RX work to make it fit. I think we’ll get away with it though, although it is less than ideal and limits our mix options at that point somewhat.
The plan for today is to:
- complete a non audio business job first this morning;
- import my backgrounds, room tones and wild SFX session into my master session, and place any wild SFX so that we can ascertain if any further foley or SFX are required for those points;
- Duncan, Andrew and Gabe will be getting stuck into some foley tonight, so I just need to make sure my set up is all ready for them. We went over things last night, but decided to tweak a couple of set-up and workflow things.
