There are a bunch of good books out there for different aspects of film sound, but one that I have checked out and liked is David Lewis Yewdall’s “Practical Art of Motion Picture Sound”. In the 4th edition of the book they changed the format a little to include resources on a website rather than on the accompanying disc. I haven’t really checked out the videos that accompany book, but they can be found here these days (and not at the URL listed in the book):
